Potato and Minced Beef Casserole

Hearty, creamy, and filling – with a spicy sauce and a golden-brown cheese crust.

This simple casserole is real soul food for the whole family. Juicy ground beef, thin potato slices, and a creamy cream sauce combine to create a delicious oven-baked dish that everyone will love.

Ingredients for 4 servings

• 1 onion

• 2 garlic cloves

• 1 kg potatoes (preferably waxy)

• 1 tbsp olive oil

• 500 g ground beef

• 2 tbsp tomato paste

• 1 tbsp flour

• 400 ml Vegetable broth

• 200g cream

• 150g grated cheese (e.g. Gouda or Emmental)

• 2 tbsp Italian herbs (frozen)

• Salt and pepper

• Finely chop the onion and garlic

• Peel the potatoes and cut them into very thin slices using a vegetable slicer

2. Cook the minced meat sauce

• Heat olive oil in a large pan, brown the minced meat vigorously

• Add onions and garlic, fry briefly

• Stir in tomato paste and brown, then stir in flour

• Deglaze with cream and vegetable stock

• Add potato slices, bring to a boil, and simmer covered for 10 minutes
