Café Krönner in Straubing: A piece of history to enjoy

The Café Krönner, located in the heart of the picturesque town of Straubing, is more than just a place to drink coffee and enjoy cake. It is a place that breathes history and lives tradition. The Krönner family has been working in the pastry shop for over 260 years and brings this experience into every sweet creation that the Café has to offer.

Enter the Café and you will be welcomed by an atmosphere that is both cozy and elegant. The interior, inspired by the Viennese coffee house style, invites you to linger. Coffee is still served here according to the old Viennese tradition — with a glass of fresh water from our own well, a detail that shows the love for the craft and the appreciation for the guests.

The menu of the Café Krönner is a homage to the art of confectionery. From the famous Agnes Bernauer cake, a layer cake made of mocha butter cream and filled nut meringue bases, to the gluten-free, lactose-free and hazelnut-free Joseph von Fraunhofer cake – Here everyone will find something to suit their taste. Not to forget the Spitzweg cake, a work of art made from the finest sand paste, marzipan, chocolate pieces and truffle paste, covered with fine dark chocolate.

The Café Krönner is not only known for its cakes, but also for its diverse range of breakfast options. Whether classic or Mediterranean, sweet or hearty — the selection is large; and every wish will be fulfilled. For those looking for something special, there is the Agnes Bernauer breakfast for two, served on three floors with a variety of delicacies.

Teatime is also held in the Café Krönner celebrates. A selection of sweet and savory snacks, accompanied by a macaron, two chocolates and two small pieces of cake of the day, ensure an enjoyable break. Two hearty bites and two glasses of orange juice or Prosecco Mionetto round off the experience.
